A good user experience

Music is always a hit and miss user experience! Some people make you want to die from the pain experienced when they play an instrument! However, some people leave you awestruck………especially when they’re 12 years old!

Amazon.co.uk Filler Item Finder

Just a quick post about this great site I just found out about through moneysavingexpert.com. The website basically finds filler items to help you avoid paying for postage when your basket doesn’t quite qualify for Super Saver delivery.

Digerati Studio in the local press

The results from the survey we conducted have been posted in our local press, The Bath Chronicle.

Stuart also appeared on Bath FM commenting on the results.

We conducted a survey across Bath and the surrounding area, to discover how companies choose their web design agency. Over 47% of people said they chose their agency based on a recommendation by a friend, with only 9% of people chosing their agency from an internet search. For more information or to request the survey results, please get in touch.

2 days of food and users

I am currently in Paris for 2 days of usability testing where we are interviewing real users to get insight on how to improve the designs of a particular digital service. It is always great to spend time with users actually understanding what they are thinking and doing with websites and software.

Also whilst being here I have had some great food and the dessert I had last night kind of fitted in with a typical design project - in fact it was actually called “projet cassata”. The way the waiter described it is that there are lots of elements and it is up to the customer how they create their dessert - kind of like your own project! Just like in user centred design, giving the user full control like this is not always a good idea. Although the dessert was nice, I should really remember that trained and experienced chefs are much better at taste combinations than me.

The importance of user research!

I know there are a lot of articles around about Vista, and also that anyone who knows us would know we are very passionate about a certain non-Microsoft Operating system. However, this story is just too good an example of the need for assessing user’s needs and desires to ignore.

When a company is going to make big policy decisions (like stopping people being able to transfer an operating system licence between computers) they really should find out what people think about it first. If you don’t do this well then you may end up retracting your policy and that can cause a certain amount of embarassment.
